Challenge #2-UDL Photo Essay

Math right of the bat has multiple means of representation embedded within it. Students should be able to verbally share their thinking, as well as share it numerically and visually on paper. I chose this picture because in our classroom we are very adamant about students having a strong fluency between graphs, tables and equations, which fits into the multiple means of representation.
I chose this picture because the more connections students make to the real world and their own personal life, the more engaged they will be in the math classroom. In our classroom, we leave space for students to make these connections and try to use different types of problems that connect students to what interests them and engages their minds in math.
I chose this image of a whiteboard to represent the multiple means of expression and action in our classroom. Although we mainly use a virtual whiteboard, the idea that students have their own space to draw, write, or demonstrate their thinking is very important in our classroom. I also love the idea about whiteboard allowing you to make mistakes and correct them by erasing easily.
I chose this image because it represents creativity in the math classroom. The more assignments and tasks we give our students that allow them to not only think critically but also be creative opens up multiple means of engagement and expression. In our classroom we like to let students be as creative as possible in how they complete homework, how they show their work, and how they explain their thinking.
